~ Missions ~
There are missions which require "Mission Items" instead of abilities.  These items are referred to as comsumables, meaning they are "one time use only" items, and begin at level 2 of the mission mastery tiers.  In order to complete these missions, lower missions need to be completed first to collect the required number of "Mission Items".  (See the chart below for Mission Items and Rare Abilities each mission provides.)

Mission Items are collected by doing missions which display the    symbol.

Each mission that gives you a chance at a rare ability always gives out the same ability. Abilities are ranked with an attack strength and a defense strength. Your vampire will use the ability with the highest attack strength when you attack, and the highest defense strength when you are being attacked. (See the offensive abilities, defensive abilities and movement abilities pages for ability strength stats.)

Missions have three levels of mastery.  Each mission mastered to the next level receives a skill point.  [Skill points are used to improve your stats (ie. health, rage, energy, etc.)]

Mission Tiers also have three levels of mastery.  Once a mission tier is mastered to the next level, your vampire earns a new title (ie. fledgling, greater fledgling, neophyte, etc.).  You are also rewarded with 1 skill point, a trophy and one favor point.
TIP:
Build your energy up big and fast.  The higher the tier, the more energy it will cost to do each mission.  Now that abilities and mission items are required, it makes it more difficult to achieve mastery of each mission if your energy is not consistantly raised.  Also, you are more likely to advance through levels much quicker by doing missions than in combat.
